Brussels, 21 November 2024 – Slovenia has taken a significant step forward in the development of clean hydrogen technologies by signing a cooperation memorandum with the EU Clean Hydrogen Partnership. This collaboration, announced by the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Climate and Energy, aligns with the nation’s renewable energy targets and reinforces its commitment to advancing the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley project.
Croatia and Friuli Venezia Giulia have already signed similar agreements, further solidifying the region’s collective efforts to foster clean hydrogen innovation and collaboration.
Tina Seršen, State Secretary at the Ministry of Spatial Planning, Climate and Energy, expressed optimism about the agreement:
“We want to further our capacities and knowledge exchange for a more effective development and introduction of hydrogen technologies in Slovenia.”

Between 2021 and 2027, the partnership is set to receive €1 billion in EU funding, matched by private investments. In addition, the EU has pledged an extra €200 million to double the number of hydrogen valleys by 2025.
