Hydrogen Valleys across Europe are moving from demonstration towards real industrial and regional impact. A recent article published by HEAVENN brings together experiences from several European Hydrogen Valleys, highlighting the importance of integrated ecosystems, cross-border cooperation and knowledge exchange.
The article also features Alberto Soraci of AREA Science Park, involved in NAHV and coordinator of NASCHA. Reflecting on Europe’s position in the global hydrogen sector, he warns that Europe faces a choice: “either to continue supporting the development of the hydrogen sector and maintain its energy and technological sovereignty, or to cede leadership to other countries.”
This challenge is highly relevant to NAHV, which is developing a cross-border hydrogen ecosystem across Slovenia, Croatia and Friuli Venezia Giulia. The experiences of Hydrogen Valleys across Europe show that moving from pilots to real impact requires not only technology, but also stronger demand, regulatory clarity and continued cooperation between regions.
