On 15 May 2025, the Prihodnost Plina in vodik 2.0 conference took place in Ljubljana, bringing together key stakeholders in the fields of gas and hydrogen.
Two partners of the North Adriatic Hydrogen Valley (NAHV) participated in the event.
Giovanna Pozzi from Snam presented the company’s contributions to the NAHV. Snam is developing an innovative hydrogen compressor, which will be tested in the soon-to-be-built hydrogen valley in Trieste. The company is also conducting a preliminary study on transport infrastructure to support the movement of hydrogen produced by NAHV partners.
Furthermore she introduced the company’s vision for the South H2 Corridor—a major hydrogen infrastructure project separate from the NAHV. The South H2 Corridor will span 3,300 km, connecting North Africa, Italy, Austria, and Germany.
Jerneja Sedlar from Holding Slovenske elektrarne (HSE) joined a panel debate where she highlighted the importance of the NAHV. Led by HSE, the NAHV covers the entire hydrogen value chain, including production, storage, distribution, and end use, particularly in industry and mobility sectors.
“We are connecting and learning from one another. Our goal is to incorporate best practices while fostering stronger regional ties,” Sedlar said. She emphasized the significant potential for hydrogen use in the industrial sector across the region.

Later in the conference, Jan Pavličič from HSE presented one of the 17 testbed projects included in the NAHV. HSE plans to build a hydrogen production facility at the Šoštanj Thermal Power Plant (TEŠ) site. The project is currently in the phase of submitting a building permit application. In parallel, HSE is conducting research into various hydrogen storage technologies to support future deployment.
The conference served as a platform to showcase both regional and transnational efforts in building a hydrogen economy in Europe.
