Evolving a cross-border ecosystem with renewable hydrogen

Last week, NACHIP partner Serichim S.r.l. had the pleasure of welcoming a group of students from the IMB International Master’s Programme at the University of Ljubljana, School of Economics and Business. The visit was part of a field trip to northern Italy aimed at providing students with real-world insights into the value chains they will explore as part of their final project.

The group was accompanied by Polona Domadenik Muren, Scientific Director of the IMB Programme, Jurij Giacomelli, Communication and Dissemination Manager of NACHIP, and his team.

The day at Serichim’s Torviscosa site was thoughtfully structured in three parts:

  1. Introduction to the Torviscosa Site – A historical and economic overview of the location’s industrial development and transformation.

  2. Presentation of Serichim – A closer look at the company’s mission, activities, and expertise, with emphasis on innovation, sustainability, and advanced chemical processes.

  3. Lab Tour and Dialogue – A guided visit to the R&D laboratories, offering direct engagement with researchers and insight into technologies used in the development of fine chemicals and APIs.

The visit highlighted Serichim’s contribution to advancing sustainable chemical processes and innovative industrial applications. Located within the historic industrial complex of Torviscosa—now part of the regional hydrogen hub in Friuli Venezia Giulia—Serichim operates at the intersection of chemistry, biotechnology, and clean energy. As a key partner in the NACHIP project, Serichim supports the development of next-generation technologies, including those relevant to the hydrogen economy, from early-stage research to industrial scalability.

We look forward to further strengthening the collaboration between NACHIP partners and academic institutions.
